Tuesdays with Torah | Constantine’s Sword: the Jews, the Early Church, and the History of Antisemitism

In this class, we will explore how the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth – who lived his entire life as a Jew – became the focal point of a new religion. We will also look at the relationship between the Jewish people and the early church, including antisemitism in late antiquity and the medieval world. The class will incorporate material from a variety of sources, including James Carroll’s notable history Constantine’s Sword: The Church and the Jews.
