Bluegrass Shabbat

Join us for a unique Shabbat service featuring Jewish bluegrass musician Noah Solomon and Wise Temple’s Director of Lifelong Learning, Matt Check. Matt Check and Noah Solomon first connected through bluegrass jam sessions in Greenwich Village during the mid-2000s. Their shared passion for music led to various collaborations over the years. Notably, in 2014, Noah was a featured vocalist on Matt’s “The Bluegrass Kabbalat Shabbat Experience,” an album that blends the liturgy of Kabbalat Shabbat with bluegrass instrumentation along with traditional melodies as well as ones composed by Matt himself. They are thrilled for a musical reunion after many years at Wise Temple that will also include congregant Nina Prasanphanich on vocals and Cincinnati bluegrass locals Chris Cusentino and Brad Meinerding.
