5:30 PM - 6:30 PM
Wise Center, Amberley
In late September, Cincinnati City Councilman and Wise Temple Member Mark Jeffreys had the opportunity to visit Ukraine to represent the City of Cincinnati in the signing of an updated Memorandum of Understanding between Cincinnati and its Sister City, Kharkiv, as well as attend a “Rebuild Kharkiv” conference hosted in Kyiv. As a part of that visit, Councilman Jeffreys worked with the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati to connect with the Jewish community in Kyiv. While in Kyiv, Jeffreys had the opportunity to meet with Mayor Terikov from Kharkiv, visit the Kyiv Hesed, the JCC, a trauma center serving the Jewish community, talk with Jewish refugees & university students, as well as visit the Brodsky Synagogue, which is the center of a lot of refugee relief work. In this evening’s program, Councilman Jeffreys will speak about his impressions of the landscape in Ukraine now and the Jewish community as a result of the war.
Councilman Jeffreys is in his first term on Cincinnati City Council. Prior to serving on City Council, he worked at Procter & Gamble for 17 years, started a few companies, and served on the Parks Foundation Board as well as the Clifton Town Meeting. He and his wife Pamela live in Clifton, and have 4 children.
This event is co-sponsored by Wise Temple, the Jewish Community Relations Council, and AJC (American Jewish Committee) Cincinnati.
