Malia Schaefer
RABBINIC EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT
Prior to having the privilege of joining Wise, Malia had extensive experience as an administrator and project specialist, but most of her career she was primarily engaged as a medical editor and writer. She was educated at Westminster College and Ball State University, studying English, with minors in Philosophy and Political Science.
In her role at the temple, Malia enjoys working with staff, lay leaders, congregants, and musicians. Some of her primary tasks include coordinating projects and programs, congregational travel, overseeing schedules and communications regarding Life Cycle events, including B’nai Mitzvah. She also enjoys the challenge of the day-to-day intricacies of the rabbis’ complex calendars.
In her spare time, Malia enjoys trying new recipes, going to hear live music, reading, Green Bay Packers football, and most of all snuggling and shenanigans with her 2-year-old grandson, Elliott. Malia lives with Doug (spouse), Wally and Moe (dogs), and Izzy (a cat who believes he’s a dog).
